Ford Transit Service Intervals: Your Complete Maintenance Schedule

Regular servicing is the cheapest insurance you can buy for a Ford Transit. On the 2.0 EcoBlue in particular, keeping clean, correct-grade oil in the engine directly protects the wet belt and oil system. Here is a practical guide to what needs doing and when.

Every 12 months / 18,000–25,000 miles — full service

  • Engine oil and filter change using the correct low-SAPS specification oil.
  • Air filter, pollen filter and fuel filter inspection or replacement.
  • Full vehicle health check: brakes, tyres, suspension, lights and battery.
  • Diagnostic scan to catch stored fault codes early.

For vans on short journeys or heavy stop-start work, we often recommend more frequent oil changes — clean oil is the single best defence against wet belt debris problems.

Every 2 years — brake fluid & coolant checks

Brake fluid absorbs moisture over time and should be replaced roughly every two years. Coolant strength should be checked to ensure frost protection and corrosion resistance, especially before winter.

Around 80,000–100,000 miles — start planning the wet belt

Ford’s official wet belt interval is 10 years or 144,000 miles, but we strongly advise inspecting from around 80,000 miles and budgeting for replacement before the official limit, particularly on hard-worked vans.

As needed — DPF and EGR maintenance

If your van does mostly short trips, plan the occasional longer run to allow the DPF to regenerate, and have the EGR and DPF checked if you see warning lights or notice a drop in performance.

Why specialist servicing matters

A generic service is fine for basics, but on the EcoBlue the details matter — the right oil specification, the right intervals, and a technician who knows to watch the oil system. That specialist eye often spots a developing problem long before it becomes a breakdown.
